Application and use

HERMA PE Paperprint combines the high print quality of coated paper with the durability of PE films. With HERMA PE Paperprint an excellent print quality can be achieved in all traditional printing methods such as flexo, letterpress, screen and offset printing. Furthermore the film is perfectly suited for subsequent inscription with matrix or thermal transfer printers using resin or resin/wax ribbons. With special wax or solvent based inks also inkjet imprint is possible.

HERMA PE Paperprint features high weather- and UV-resistance and is thus perfectly suited for outdoor applications.

HERMA PE Paperprint has been designed for labelling HDPE drums and PE shrink- and stretch film wrappings - it can be recycled along with PE packaging materials.

Thanks to its extremely high adhesion adhesive 64B is particularly suitable for labelling strongly curved, rough, dusty or oily surfaces as well as rubber products and containers for chemicals. In combination with HERMA PE laser this adhesive is suitable for labelling chemical barrels after filling them at a maximum temperature of 180 °C.In spite of its high coating weight this newly designed adhesive offers excellent die-cutting characteristics. Adhesive 64B is particularly resistant to light, heat and ageing.

The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Good die-cutting characteristics on all usual machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PW (517) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

HERMA PE Paperprint (grade 812) according to the sample material is considered safe to use for food packaging and may stand in direct contact to dry, aqueous, non-acid and fatty foodstuffs (ISEGA Research and Development Institute, Aschaffenburg).

All ingredients of adhesive 64B comply with recommendation FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 64B can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 5 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating plastic films. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned (Declaration of no objection valid until 14.03.2026).

The paper liner complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
