Application and use

HERMA PP Paperprint combines the high print quality of coated paper with the durability of PP films. With HERMA PP Paperprint an excellent print quality can be achieved in all traditional printing methods such as flexo, letterpress, gravure and offset printing. Furthermore the film is perfectly suited for subsequent inscription with matrix or thermal transfer printers using resin or resin/wax ribbons. Before printing it is recommended to freshen up the corona pretreatment.

HERMA PP Paperprint features high weather and UV-resistance and is thus perfectly suited for outdoor applications.

It is recommended to convert HERMA PP Paperprint within one year from date of production.

Adhesive 42N is suitable for applications requiring medium tack combined with good removability. It is particularly suited for labelling surfaces like cardboard, PE-Films and steel. Removability may be impaired if applied on certain surface coated materials.Adhesive 42N features excellent resistance to light, heat and ageing.

The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PW (517) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is one year from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

Regarding its migration behaviour, HERMA PP Paperprint comply with the requirements of directive 22/72/EC relating to plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (this directive is meanwhile replaced by regulation (EU) No. 1/211) and with regulation (EC) No. 1935/24 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, as well as with national regulations for food contact materials and articles. HERMA PP Paperprint can be used in direct contact for more than 24 hours up to 4 °C degrees with aqueous, alcoholic, fatty and dry food. This grade is not suitable for contact with acidic food (pH < 4,5).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 42N can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below.
