Application and use

Thanks to its special treatment the matt surface of HERMA PETP transparent matt offers an excellent print quality in screen, letterpress and flexo printing.

The film may also be printed with laser and thermal transfer printers and it is possible to write on the film with ballpoint pens, pencils etc.

HERMA PETP transparent matt suits perfectly for production of labels that have to be resistant to high temperature and moist environment (e.g. type plates).

Thanks to its aggressive adhesive characteristics adhesive 63B is particularly suitable for critical surfaces such as cardboard and ampoules. The adhesive is highly water-resistant and is suitable for labelling cold and humid surfaces. It is extremely resistant to light, heat and ageing.

Typical areas of application for this coated kraft liner are computer labels for laser printers (continuous or sheet stock), which require higher stiffness and excellent stay-flat characteristics.

The material complies with BS 5609 Section Two (Resistanceto Sea Water).

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA KW (511) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is four years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

All ingredients of adhesive 63B comply with recommendation FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 63B can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 4 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating various materials. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned. It must be ensured that the relevant migration limits are complied with by the laminated packaging (Declaration of no objection valid until 29.11.2025).

Furthermore the self-adhesive labels with the adhesive 63B can be used for labelling of blood bags (Expert's Opinion from Nomvember 11, 2021).

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
