Application and use

The matt metallic surface with its print receptive coating offers good printability in conventional label printing methods (e.g. UV-flexo). A verification of ink suitability is recommended.

Metal laminated papers are impermeable to grease, oil and other liquids. The aluminium layer offers an excellent barrier.

"HERMAsilver matt" is especially suitable for labels that require a metallic effect for decoration or technical purpose. That is e.g. for name plates and wiring diagrams, ornamental labels and also for applica tions in the beverage and cosmetics industry.

The barrier effect of the aluminium layer may also be used when labels require a paper surface. In such case the adhesive is applied to the metal side, while the paper surface is available for printing. This product is listed in our product portfolio as grade 491 (HERMA-silver reverse).

Thanks to its extremely high adhesion adhesive 64B is particularly suitable for labelling strongly curved, rough, dusty or oily surfaces as well as rubber products and containers for chemicals. In combination with HERMA PE laser this adhesive is suitable for labelling chemical barrels after filling them at a maximum temperature of 180 °C.In spite of its high coating weight this newly designed adhesive offers excellent die-cutting characteristics. Adhesive 64B is particularly resistant to light, heat and ageing.

The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Good die-cutting characteristics on all usual machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PW (525) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is four years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

With regard to the tests carried out, the samples submitted comply with the applicable provisions of Commission Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and Commission Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. Labels made with it may be in direct contact with dry, non-fatty food. The silver, lacquered side may also be in direct contact with moist and fatty foods.

All statements correspond to the current state of our knowledge and are based on information from our raw material suppliers. The verification of suitability for the intended use and the risk assessment including measured values are the responsibility of the one who puts the final product into circulation.

All ingredients of adhesive 64B comply with recommendation FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 64B can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 5 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating plastic films. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned (Declaration of no objection valid until 14.03.2026).

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
