Application and use

The semi-gloss coated surface of "HERMAsilver matt reverse coated" offers good printability in conventional label printing methods (e.g. UV-flexo) as well as in thermal transfer printing. A verification of ink/ribbon suitability is recommended.

Due to its total opacity the material completely obscures the labelled surface. It is highly conformable and may therefore be used on flat as well as on curved surfaces. The aluminium layer on the back side of the label paper serves as barrier and prevents migration of contaminants from the labelled surface or ingredients of the adhesive into the label material.

Therefore "HERMAsilver matt reverse coated" is suitable for the labelling of tyres.

95T is an extremely aggressive adhesive specially developed for extremely critical applications like tyre-labelling. Thanks to its extremely high tack and very high final adhesion 95T is also a perfect choice for labelling rough PE-containers, wood-based materials and very rough cardboard. 95T is provided with pattern gum to avoid adhesive bleed. The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Due to the high coat-weight and the extremely high tack die cutting has to be considered very carefully. 95T does not allow for high die-cutting speeds. To avoid adhesive bleed winding tension should be kept under careful control. Matrix stripping is recommended to do immediately at / after die cutting. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PW (525) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The paper complies with the recommendation BfR XXXVI, the labels produced with it may be in direct contact with dry, non-fatty food. The silver, laquered side may also be in direct contact with moist and fatty foods. The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
