Application and use

The specially developed surface of HERMAlaser sheet 50 offers an excellent printability and toner keying with all xerographic printing processes. Label sheets are suitable for large laser printers, desktop l aser printers, copiers and a great number of inkjet printers.

We recommend a production from small reels 217 mm wide or 434 mm wide for two-wide production (original edges of the semi-finished material should not be used). A possible curvature in machine direction (especially near the cores) may be adjusted by a "decurl bar" in the press. Water-based inks may negatively influence stay flat characteristics of the paper. We therefore recommend no use of water-based inks for printing large areas.

The pulp for this paper is from FSC® certified forests and other controlled sources.

The adhesive 61Dpc is specially designed for A4 sheets, which are used in laser printers and in copiers (in xerographic printing processes). Thanks to the innovative multilayer (double-layer) technology it was possible to increase the cohesion and thus significantly reduce the adhesive bleed. An ideal feed through can be achieved as well as the impurities caused by adhesive bleed can be avoided by the use of the 61Dpc.Less suitable for rough or curved surfaces.The 61Dpc has an excellent resistance to aging, heat and light.

This coated kraft liner has been designed for production of label sheets for copiers and laser printers. The reverse of the paper assures excellent processing characteristics, i.e. high friction combined with high abrasion resistance.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines. HERMA KW (512) was designed for sheeting. It is less suitable for conversions where waste-stripping is involved.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The paper is approved according to the BfR Recommendation XXXVI. This paper quality according to the sample material submitted may be used safely for food packaging and may stand in direct contact to dry and fatty foodstuffs (ISEGA Research and Development Institute, Aschaffenburg).

All ingredients of adhesive 61Dpc comply with recommendation BfR XIV or FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 61Dpc can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 4 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating various materials. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned. It must be ensured that the relevant migration limits are complied with by the laminated packaging (Declaration of no objection valid until 17.04.2027).
