Application and use

HERMAcoat greaseproof has been developed for applications where resistance against oil and grease is required e.g. for food labelling. The semi-gloss coated surface offers a good print quality in all conventional printing methods as well as in thermal transfer printing. Therefore the paper is well suited for high-quality labels with multi-colour imprint.

The pulp for this paper comes from FSC® certified forest management and other controlled sources.

The PSA 63Vst is characterized by an extraordinary high tack. Even on critical surfaces tack-level is very high. 63Vst is therefore ideal for cool, moist and even slightly greasy surfaces. Despite the excellent low temperature properties, it indicates very good mandrel-hold and is therefore suitable for curved surfaces and irregular 3D packaging. Once labelled 63Vst is highly waterproof. The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines. As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PH (523) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The paper complies with BfR XXXVI and BfR XXXVI/2 as well as to FDA 21 CFR section 176.170 and 176.180 recommendations for direct contact with dry, moist and fatty food.

All ingredients of adhesive 63Vst comply with recommendation BfR XIV or FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 63Vst can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 2 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for laminating various materials. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned. It must be ensured that the relevant migration limits are complied with by the laminated packaging (Declaration of no objection valid until 14.12.2025).

Furthermore the self-adhesive labels with the adhesive 63Vst can be used for labelling of blood bags (Expert's Opinion from December 16, 2021).

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
