Application and use

HERMAcoat WS (229) is perfect for high-quality labels with multi-colour imprint. The semi-gloss coated surface offers an excellent quality of the imprint with all conventional printing methods and good printing quality with thermal transfer and laser printing.

Furthermore HERMAcoat WS is printable with digital printing methods. Pre-testing is recommended.

Thanks to its medium wet-strength HERMAcoat WS is well suited for wash-off applications.

The adhesive 62P is designed for applications where the label has to be removed without residue. Good results can be reached from 35 °C.

The washing time depends on the label material, the substrate on which the label is applied, the printing and the washing parameters as water temperature, water pressure and the used washing additives.

The adhesive shows good results on PE and PP reusable boxes and buckets, which are also used at low temperatures.

The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

The label material 229/62P fulfills Recyclass's recyclability requirements for use on transparent and white rigid HDPE containers (certificate code: 002-hrm-iz). It is compatible with the sorting and recycling technologies commonly used at industrial scale in the HDPE recycling streams in Europe.

Processing

As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PH (523) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The paper complies with BfR XXXVI recommendations for direct contact with dry and fatty food.

The adhesive 62P may be used safely for the reverse coating of labels for the labelling of food stored at room temperature and below. It may stand in direct contact with dry, non-fatty food, provided that the ratio of the contact surface of the label related to the total weight of the food does not exceed 0,1 dm²/kg. (Declaration of no objection valid until 05.05.2027).

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
