Application and use

Thanks to its special surface treatment the glossy surface of HERMA PP silver tc offers an excellent print quality in all conventional printing methods like e.g. UV flexographic printing. HERMA PP silver tc is perfect for the production of optically demanding and decorative labels. For recycling reasons these labels are preferably used on PP surfaces. HERMA PP silver tc is particularly suitable for labelling luxury products, cosmetics, for advertising and promotion, engine oils, cleaning agents etc., as well as for applications demanding resistance to chemicals or weather.

This film is not intended for use in unprinted zigzag applications, in which the coated print surface is in contact with itself.

Adhesive 42X is used where good release of the label at high initial adhesion is required. The low final tack of the adhesive provides good release on a variety of surfaces. The combination of resistance to various media, low final tack and high cohesion predestines the 42X pressure sensitive adhesive for resealable labels. Multiple opening and reclosing works very well on all common plastic surfaces.

42X shows good resistance to water, oils and other liquids. Furthermore, the adhesive has a particularly good resistance to light, moisture and ageing.

Typical uses for this biaxially stretched polyester film are high-speed labelling machines with optical or mechanical scanning.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines. In a self-adhesive compound HERMA PET offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all usual flatbed and rotary die-cutting machines.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

HERMA PP silver tc complies with the legal requirements or recommendations of Regulation (EC) no. 1935/2004 and (EU) no. 10/2011 and subsequent amendments up to Regulation (EC) no. 2015/174 on plastics and articles intended to come into contact with food as well as of Regulation (EC) no. 2023/2006, amended up to (EC) No. 282/2008, on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 42X can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 2 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011.
