Application and use

The specially developed surface of HERMAlaser sheet offers optimal printability and toner keying with all xerographic printing processes. Label sheets are suitable for large laser printers, desktop laser printers, copiers and a great number of inkjet printers.

We recommend production from narrow reels width 217 mm or width 434 mm for double-width production (original edges of the semi-finished rolls should not be adopted for sheetstock). A possible curl in machine direction (especially towards the cores) may be adjusted by a "decurl bar" in the press. Water based inks may have an adverse influence on the flatness of the sheet stock. We therefore advise against use of water based inks especially when printing large areas. Furthermore the paper is certified with the EU-Ecolabel (EU-Flower).

The pulp for this paper comes from FSC certified forest management and other controlled sources. 

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Apc is specially developed for applications where the labelled packaging material, paper or board, is recycled after use. It is not necessary to separate the label for this, as the adhesive 72Apc does not have negative effects on the recycling path for paper packaging materials. The recycled paper or packaging material can be reused and printed on without any problems. In relation to the total packaging material, the weight share of the label can be up to 25%. 

Adhesive 72Apc has very good aging, heat and light resistance.

This coated kraft liner has been designed for production of label sheets for copiers and laser printers. The reverse of the paper assures excellent processing characteristics, i.e. high friction combined with high abrasion resistance.

Processing

Excellent die-cutting characteristics on all customary machines.

HERMA KW (512) was designed for sheeting. It is less suitable for conversions where waste-stripping is involved.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is four years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The paper is approved according to the Recommendation XXXVI. This paper grade according to the sample material submitted may be used safely for food packaging. It may stand in direct contact with dry and fatty foodstuffs. (ISEGA Research and Development Institute, Aschaffenburg)

All ingredients of the pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Apc comply with the recommendations BfR XIV or FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

 

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Apc can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for a storage at room temperature and below. It may stand in direct contact with dry, moist and such fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 4 in accordance with the Regulation (EU) No 10/2011. Furthermore, the adhesive may be used for lamination of various materials. In this case, cut edge contact with food is harmless as far as the above mentioned adhesive is concerned. It must be ensured that the relevant migration limits are complied with by the laminated packaging (declaration of no objection valid until 28.08.2026).
