Application and use

HERMAextracoat is suitable for high-quality labels with multi-colour imprint. The semi-gloss coated surface of HERMAextracoat offers an excellent quality of the imprint with all conventional printing methods as well as with thermal transfer and laser printing.

Furthermore HERMAextracoat (242) can be printed with digital printing methods such as Xeikon and UV-Inkjet. Pre-testing is recommended.

The pulp for this paper comes from FSC certified forest management and other controlled sources.

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Bpt is specially developed for applications where the labelled packaging material, paper or board, is recycled after use. It is not necessary to separate the label for this, as the adhesive 72Bpt does not have negative effects on the recycling path for paper packaging materials. The recycled paper or packaging material can be reused and printed on without any problems. In relation to the total packaging material, the weight share of the label can be up to 25%.

The adhesive 72Bpt has a very high initial tack and is therefore also suitable for fast-running dispensing systems in which the initial tack has to be built up extremely quickly (e.g. blow-on process).

The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

Die-cutting properties are excellent on all common machines.

As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PH (523) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is two years from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

The paper complies with BfR XXXVI recommendations for direct contact with dry and non fatty food.

All ingredients of the pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Bpt comply with the recommendations BfR XIV or FDA 21 CFR 175.105 (Adhesives).

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Bpt can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for a storage at room temperature and below. It may stand in direct contact with dry, moist and such fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 3 in accordance with the Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 (declaration of no objection valid until 26.10.2025).

The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
