HERMAtherm top M is phenol-free and can be used for applications requiring increased resistance to moistue, solvents oder grease, e.g. for weight labels (meat packers, supermarkets) or for price marking labels (excellent presentation of EAN and UPC codes). For applications on soft PVC films individual tests are recommended because contact with plasticizers might have an impact on the thermal imprint.
Direct thermal printing is possible with speeds up to 200 mm/s.
The material can be printed by all conventional printing methods. The inks should be suitable for thermal paper (solvent-free), a consultation of the ink supplier is recommended. Complete curing of the ink must be ensured. Due to the thermal sensitive characteristic the web temperature during curing should not exceed 50 °C. In general, it is advisable to carry out pretests under customer-specific conditions to ensure suitability.
The pulp for this paper comes from FSC® certified forest management and other controlled sources.
The adhesive 62P is designed for applications where the label has to be removed without residue. Good results can be reached from 35 °C.
The washing time depends on the label material, the substrate on which the label is applied, the printing and the washing parameters as water temperature, water pressure and the used washing additives.
The adhesive shows good results on PE and PP reusable boxes and buckets, which are also used at low temperatures.
The supercalendered glassine with unbleached fibres is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.
Paper fibre contents:- unbleached virgin fibres: ca. 50 %- bleached virgin fibres: ca. 35 %- bleached recycling fibres: ca. 15 %
The glassine paper shows a reduced PCF in comparison to an equivalent paper without unbleached fibres.
As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PN (501) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.
Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.
The shelf life is one year from date of production.
The thermal paper grade HERMAtherm top M (Grade 912) is suitable for direct contact with foodstuffs that are typically washed, shelled, and/or peeled before consumption, based on experience.
For all other forms of food contact, a functional barrier should be used to prevent migration. The functional barriers have been tested and verified as effective for all categories of foodstuffs in which the thermal paper is likely to be used (food packaging for diary products, meats and seafood, fruits and vegetables, cereal products, confectionary, processed and prepared foods, fats, infant products). In any case, a direct contact is not foreseen.
The adhesive 62P may be used safely for the reverse coating of labels for the labelling of food stored at room temperature and below. It may stand in direct contact with dry, non-fatty food, provided that the ratio of the contact surface of the label related to the total weight of the food does not exceed 0,1 dm²/kg. (Declaration of no objection valid until 05.05.2027).
The paper complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.Label material
