Application and use

The glossy surface of HERMA PE transparent with its corona pretreatment offers an excellent print quality in conventional printing techniques. Before printing we recommend to freshen up the corona pretreatment.

HERMA PE transparent is perfect for the production of optically pretentious, glossy, transparent labels. For recycling reasons these labels are preferably used on PE surfaces.

Thanks to the high flexibility of this PE film even curved surfaces may be labelled without any problems as well as squeezable packaging.

 

The adhesive has been specifically developed for label applications where residue-free removal of the label material in the PET and HDPE recycling stream is required. In addition, the transparent adhesive is also suitable for applications on glass and PP surfaces, providing good resistance to aging, heat, and light.

The supercalendered glassine is perfectly suited for assignment in labelling machines equipped with optical or mechanical scanners.

Processing

As part of a self-adhesive compound HERMA PW (517) offers excellent die-cutting characteristics with all customary flatbed and rotary die-cutting tools.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is one year from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

HERMA PE transparent is in compliance with Commission Regulations (EC) no. 1935/2004 and (EU) no. 10/2011 as amended on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food with amendment 37/2019/EU and furthermore with the Commission Regulation (EC) no. 2023/ 2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The film may come into contact with dry, aqueous, acidic, alcoholic and fatty foodstuffs.

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Hpw can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 2 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. The paper liner complies with recommendation BfR XXXVI.
