Application and use

The glossy surface of HERMA PE white LD with its corona pretreatment offers an excellent print quality in conventional printing methods. Before printing we recommend to freshen up the corona pretreatment.

HERMA PE white LD is perfect for the production of optically demanding, glossy labels. For recycling reasons these labels are preferably used on PE surfaces.

Thanks to the high flexibility of this PE film even curved surfaces may be labelled without any problems as well as squeezable packaging.

Due to its low density, HERMA PE white LD allows it to be used as a special label material for recycling applications, such as wash-off labels.

The adhesive 72Hpw was developed for applications where the label has to be removed in warm caustic water (80 °C and 1-2% NaOH).72Hpw was specially developed for PET bottles, e.g. for the beverage, detergents, cosmetics and personal care, which can be recycled in standard industrial recycling plants. When the PET bottles are introduced into the recycling process, the label with adhesive is removed from the PET without leaving any residue so that the PET can be recycled cleanly.

HERMA PET has excellent properties in demanding applications. The high strength characteristics eliminate web breaks in high speed applications with narrow webs allowing high dispensing speeds. Compared to paper liners HERMA PET is not sensitive to moisture resulting less curl and excellent dispensing properties.

Processing

HERMA PET is recommended for self-adhesive compounds for which increased safety in die-cutting is required.

Storage conditions

Storing at a temperature of 20 ± 5 °C, a relative humidity of 45 ± 5 % and a dark storage is recommended. Moisture, heat and direct sunlight have to be avoided.

The shelf life is one year from date of production.

Regulations concerning contact with food

HERMA PE white LD is in compliance with Commission Regulations (EC) no. 1935/2004 and (EU) no. 10/2011 as amended on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and furthermore with the Commission Regulation (EC) no. 2023/ 2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The film may come into contact with dry, aqueous, acidic, alcoholic and fatty food-stuffs.

The pressure-sensitive adhesive 72Hpw can be safely used for the back coating of labels for the labelling of foodstuffs for storage at room temperature and below. It may be used in direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs that can be assigned a correction factor of at least 2 in accordance with Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011. (Declaration of no objection valid until 06.11.2026)

HERMA PET (565) complies with regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 on plastics and articles intended to come into contact with food.
